I am pleased to welcome you to the new website of the PNG Customs Service.
The new website is quite similar to the previous one but now contains updated and more accurate information to guide you when you are travelling or moving cargo across PNG’s international borders.
The new website is focussed primary on providing information on our core functions of protecting our borders, protecting and collecting revenue for the State and protecting our communities from harmful products and substances.
PNG Customs has done remarkably well since I have been at the helm as Chief Commissioner despite facing enormous challenges brought about by external global phenomenon like Covid-19 and the Russian-Ukraine conflict.
In 2021, Customs exceeded the revised supplementary budget revenue target by K29.34million despite the disruption caused by Covid-19. In 2022, Customs continues to punch above its weight at a time when the economy is reeling from the effects of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
PNG Customs continues to succeed despite these challenges because of our continued efforts in rebuilding our intelligence systems, improving our investigative capacities and putting in place more robust compliance management procedures.
Apart from our day-to-day revenue collections, the improvements to our systems and processes over the past year has enabled us to recoup a significant portion of revenue that would have been foregone had it gone undetected.
PNG Customs continues to strive to deliver what this country deserves and this website another small initiative to ensure our stakeholders remain informed and educated on Customs developments, requirements, processes and procedures.
David Towe
Chief Commissioner
